The 20th Riviera Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic, held over 7 days of fishing 15 -21 October 2006, attracted 47 boats, with 140 Anglers representing every State in Australia and overseas Teams from New Zealand, South Africa, United States, Finland, UK and Japan.
48 Boats with 157 Anglers, a record for this event, competed along the Ribbon Reefs of the Great Barrier Reef of Lizard Island in Far North Queensland to give battle to the giant Black Marlin (Makaira indica) that aggregate at this time of the year.
