East coast marlin reports over the weekend from the Sunny Coast in the north right down to Bermagui in the south.
On the Sunshine and Gold Coast, while the juvenile blacks have been harder to find but there are still a few getting amongst them. On the Sunshine Coast, MGFC club captain Jamie Behrens’ Takka Chee went one from two on blacks with a fish for Mitchell yesterday. While SCGFC’s Rod Clarke on Illegal Activity released two.
On the Gold Coast, Richard Gallagher fished two up on his neighbours 2802 Trophy east of Jumpinpin for 3 blacks and a dolphin fish. Rick says that all the fish caught on skirted lures and with only the 2 on board (including a double hookup) it was a pretty hectic morning’s fishing :-)
Meanwhile Rob Lang’s Black n Blue reports that the little black marlin have made it to Coffs. Rob went 3-3-2 on the blacks on Saturday and followed up with a 5-3-3 yesterday. Rob also said there have been a few striped marlin out wide but the blues have been noticeably absent.
Capt. Daniel Carlson’s Little Audrey has arrived at Port Stephens and fishing up from Sydney tagged one on Friday and followed up with another 2 on Saturday.
Tournaments:
The Golden Lure (Port Macquarie) continues with reports of good numbers of little blacks showing up inshore as well as stripes and blues out wide. And the Central Coast GFC’s Great Northern Brewing Bluewater Classic had a record turnout with 40 boats and 172 anglers registered for fishing. They also enjoyed 2 days of terrific weather and great fishing – report to come. Surfers Paradise Game & Sport Fishing Club held their annual Ladies and Juniors Day on Saturday with a great time had by all. Matty Johnson’s Gypsy released one black among plenty of other gamefish for the ladies and juniors fishing followed up by a raftup at Wavebreak.
