Upcoming Tournaments
There are three big tournaments coming up in the next week and with good fishing in the leadup, we’ll be watching closely to hear how they go. Are you fishing?
Port Macquarie GFC‘s Golden Lure starts this weekend and after the Central Coast tourney’s great fishing last week should be a blast. The club is reporting big numbers of black marlin in close (all the way through to SW Rocks I hear) as well as blue marlin out wide. (A pending Australian spear fishing blue marlin record was captured yesterday on Carefactor as well!)
The little blacks have hit the Gold Coast just in time (Capt. Ross McCubbin with 30 tagged in the last 5 trips and Matt Stehman’s Murphy’s Law, 37 in 10 trips!) The Gold Coast GFC’s Light Tackle Masters starts with the Thursday night welcome night briefing and Calcutta, three days of fishing and post fishing entertainment with live bangs Friday and Saturday and the presentation after fishing on Sunday.
Meanwhile the Bateman’s Bay GFC Tollgate Islands Classic likewise starts Thursday with the briefing and fishing the three days Friday, Saturday and Sunday followed by the presentation. With plenty of good reports all the way from Sydney to Bermagui, the club is anticipating another great event!
Cairns Season Video
There’s still plenty of action to come in video form from the 2014 Cairns Giant Black Season (in case you didn’t hear, it was one of the best in years!). Don’t forget, I’ve been tagging all the videos so you can see them all in one place here.
First one is from the Seamaiden again – Tara Thompson-Disnard with Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham fishing on Black Label.
The second is from Capt. Alex Johnston’s Shikari (Big Game) sport fishing, bait fishing, tuna fishing, marlin fishing, diving – all the action:
And the last is mine ( :-) ) which is my second video from the season with still many more to come as I find the time to edit them. From Capt. Luke Fallon’s KEKOA with Kona angler Jada Van Mols in late October.
