While the weather has not been overly friendly, the fish continues to be good for boats fishing off Fraser over the last few days. Tyne on Aurora tells me they are up to 12 from 28 in 5 days fishing now including 2 heavy tackle grand slams (black, blue, stripe). They have also picked up 2 small black marlin light tackle as well as heaps of dolphin fish and wahoo.
Capt. Bobby Jones Merlin was back at them again yesterday with Ross McCubbin on deck telling me their score was 4-3-3 for Lorraine which was made up of an 80kg black and 2 standard blues.
On Capt. Luke Fallon’s KEKOA we wrapped up our trip with Gary Carter chasing light tackle records with a final tussle last night that went into the wee hours before the line parted. With a pending 1kg black marlin Australian record and stripe on 4kg, the blues consistently proved too good for the line class. We had incredible fishing though and plenty of chances with 59 fish teased up over the 10 days – our best two days raising 22.
