A few big fish on the reef yesterday again and plenty more smaller males to keep the big ones happy.

Capt. Brent James on Mauna Kea also let go their first big fish of the season that he put at a grand.
Lockie on deck tells me they’ve been picking away at a fish a day and had been seeing lots of fish that didn’t eat properly. They caught another about 350lbs as well. (photo below right).
A couple more big ones too am waiting for reports to come through.
Catch up report from the day before with Capt. Brad Curtis at the wheel of Calypso this week finishing up his trip with 8 in 4 days including a 500lb-er and 100lb-er on the last day.
Capt. Ross Finlayson on Top Shot was also in overnight on changeover finishing up his trip with a fish a day, biggest for the trip in the 650-700lb range. Capt. Haydon Bell’s Kanahoee fishing alongside also caught two on his final day.
Capt. Tim Richardson’s Tradition went 3 from 4 and another the day before. While on Capt. Luke Fallon’s KEKOA we also went 2 from 4 to 450lbs to Arthur who is swapping his barra gear for the big tackle this week!
Juvenile black marlin recapture
NSW DPI shared yesterday a recapture of a Sunshine Coast juvenile black marlin tagged originally on Mooloolaba GFC’s Luna that was recaptured 700nm east of Hawaii after traveling a massive 4700 nautical miles. The fish was release in mid-January and recaptured mid-September.
This is the third longest distance traveled by a black marlin under the program.
