Our mate Rob Payne has just spent five days up fishing ex-Weipa with mate Dwayne Jay and decided to give the barras (and fingermark!) a swerve to get some sailfish action on Monday.

Rob said there were pods of fish popping up all over and while the circle/bait combos were frustrating, they converted 5 from many, one pitched and the rest on lures.  Great fishing!

Yesterday, Fish’s Fly and Sportfishing’s Alan Philliskirk on Line Burner went 15-10-8 including one caught on fly with Xavier Bastian catching his first among three he accounted for for the day.

And lovely conditions in Townsville for start fishing of the Mike Carney Toyota Billfish Challenge this morning. 4 days ahead of fishing for the 14 boat fleet. Reports to come!
