2017 J& B MARINE LUCINDA LIGHT TACKLE TOURNAMENT
Ingham Rod & Reel Club’s Lucinda Light Tackle Tournament was held over the weekend with 8 boats competing. Tournament report below from TGFC’s Renee McKenzie who fished onboard Quick Bill.
While the weather was a little worse than ordinary on Saturday with plenty of rain and gusty squalls for most of the day, Sunday shaped up almost perfectly.
The Champion Boat was Electrocution with Peter Mammino at the helm, and Lindsay Pemberton, Bernard Tracey and Quinn Bauer on deck. They tagged 6 black marlin (3 each day) to take the honours and the Malcolm Florence Memorial Trophy.
Lindsay Pemberton took home the Champion Angler honours as well.
Runner Up Boat was Townsville boat Screamer with Wade Medill, Stav Bogiatzis and Constance Bogiatzis on board – with 5 tags (2 black marlin Day 1, 3 black marlin on Day 2).
Wade was Runner Up Angler and Constance took out Champion Female.
Champion Junior William Travers Encouragement Award went to junior angler Jack Butcher.
Townsville boat Quick Bill with Craig Dykstra and Renee McKenzie onboard tagged 2 black marlin and Ingham boat Raje tagged 1 black marlin on Day 1.
All the other boats in the fleet saw a billfish or 2.
Renee passed on her thanks to the Ingham Rod and Reel club for hosting another great Lucinda Light Tackle Tournament, which is suited to the trailer boats and always a great comp!
