Updated 21 June: While the weather in Cairns remains very unfriendly for offshore fishing, Townsville boats managed to get out over the weekend for a look-see ahead of Townsville Game Fishing Club’s Ladies Day this weekend.
The best of the weekend went to Gary and Kayleen Powis on Fishabunga who fished the northern grounds yesterday and found plenty of fish ending up 7-6-3 in beautiful conditions! And Reef Raine who fished both days topping with 5 on Sunday, 1 on Saturday to take their weekend total to 6 tags!
Other boats in on the action included Bermuda, Reel Crazy and Redemption.
TGFC’s Reneed McKenzie reports a total of 8 boats fishing over the 2 days for 14 tags all black marlin averaging 10-15kg from approximately 30-40 fish seen. Renee reports there is heaps of bait on the grounds and most boats reported double headers of fish.
Good news for when the weather breaks again!
