Friday was a break in the relentless south-easterlies for Coffs Coast fishers. Rick O’Ferrall reports it was one of those summer days you can usually only count on the fingers of one hand – winds around 5 knots, no swell, and gorgeous cobalt blue water along the shelf.
Sadly, still not much about, with one large blue marlin dropped early in the day out in 1500fa by Black N Blue. However, Foreign Exchange found a patch where it all came together when a 180kg (estimated) blue grabbed the long corner and put on a fine show with angler Paul Brodrick on the rod and had it tagged after 25 minutes.
Rick says that even though the numbers are low, the blues are here – you’ve just got to work hard to find them!
Thanks Rick for the report and pics.
Report from NSW Interclub to come with the Ladies’ Day today. Came right down to the wire yesterday with Capt. Scotty Thorrington’s team on Freedom giving Capt. Ivan Bennets Ambition a run with Ivan prevailing to take home his second tourney win in consecutive weeks…provisional of course as NSW GFA have yet to release boat and team results and pint. But good luck to all who are fishing today as well!
