With the blow they have come!
Many more boats reporting encounters over past couple of days as the wind set in and made things very fresh on the edge yesterday.
Capt. Daniel Klein, on his first charge on the reef since departing Askari as crew to take his own helm, showed that he’s also a fish catcher as captain on Cookie. They released 3 from 4 Wednesday up to 550lbs for Port Hacking Honorary Life Member Pete “Big T” Talbot. Yesterday they followed up with another 1 from 1 before heading into Cooktown overnight before going up to the rock for the tournament.
On Capt. Luke Fallon’s KEKOA we raised a bunch of rats but converted the one we wanted with an 800lb black marlin (photo) for Chris from Gladstone, his first black on his first Cairns trip in a fight lasting just over an hour in the wet conditions.
Capt. Haydon Bell’s Kanahoee and Capt. Tim Richardson’s Tradition also converted from multiple bites. Likewise for Capt. Brad Craft on Kiama with Brad reporting a few small up to 400 on the trip.
