Townsville
Congratulations to Capt. Chris “Sharky” Miles and team on Levante for their win at the Mike Carney Toyota Billfish Challenge (Townsville) over the weekend. With the weather reducing the event to only three days fishing, Sharky and his anglers smashed it catching half of the total billfish caught for the tournament on his boat alone being 5 black marlin and 1 sailfish.
We weren’t there this year so I don’t have first hand results myself, but I understand that Chapel came in second with two tags from Anthony Florence’s Flotation in third with one tag also taking out the small boat division.
Once again, interestingly, the sails numbers equaled the number of little blacks caught (I believe 6 of each).

Over the weekend there were also a few fish around off Cairns with the Yorkey’s Knob Boating Club holding their light tackle slam which was also originally postponed from the previous weekend due to weather! Hopefully results to come.
Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon’s Bounty Hunter also hosted 90 years young angler Harry and put him onto a small black yesterday.
This week is also the Telstra Business Centre Cairns Bluewater Billfish Tournament at Fitzroy Island with the briefing on Wednesday night and fishing starting Thursday.
