Following up from yesterday’s official tournament results, more from on the waters off Ulladulla over the last few days.  Picking up the Champion Under 7.5m gong and Runner-Up Overall, Richie Abela’s team on George Lirantzis’ Side Effect. Richie tells me that the fishing off Ulladulla is red hot at the moment.  After finishing the tourney with 11 marlin tags on 24 and 15 kg tackle – including one fish self disqualified that may have put them on top, they were going to relax yesterday.  But with the weather quite spectacular they went out for a last minute afternoon pleasure fish putting the baits in the water at 12 pm still managing 6 from 7 stripes.

Richie said that a lot of the tournament fleet were fishing The Banks inshore north of Jervis bay, right on the tournament boundaries, for the little blacks which were also on fire.

Meanwhile, Darren Buttigieg’s Happy Hour was back at Bermi. Darren says that he got back there on Saturday for 5 from 6, then 3 from 5 on Sunday and 3 from 3 again yesterday.  Yesterday saw some good bait ball action including a nice striped that Darren called a conservative 140kg. While Darren reports the bite has slowed a little but he’s sure it’s only a matter of days before it goes hard again.
