Cairns: Some really interesting news via crewman Andy Dow fishing with Capt. Ross Finlayson on Top Shot who pulled a tag from a juvie black marlin on Sunday.  With the tag number quickly giving us a winner – Brenda Pecl on On Strike tagging the fish pretty much at the same time of day, the day prior – this is truly good news for the survival of these fish. Not only did the fish remain in the same area, but remained feeding in the same area to be caught twice in two days.  Awesome result!

Kuala Rompin, Malaysia

In another episode of Aussies fishing abroad, Garry and James Holt are currently fishing the sailfish rich waters of Kuala Rompin in Malaysia with Blue Oceans Club. Garry tells me the fishing has been unbelievable with a top day yesterday resulting in 23 sails in 5 hours of fishing (photo).

Fishing a total of 15 hours in the past three days has put them on a total of  49 sailfish released.

Sailfishing season in Rompin coast begins in late March, running until mid of November with the peak season from August until November.
