And the juvie black marlin have come out to play on Day 1 of the Telstra Business Centre, Cairns Bluewater GFC Billfish Tournament.

Though not in the same numbers as 2014, it was good for the fish to show up in what has been a pretty patchy few recent weeks of late.

Capt. Corey Hard’s Askari was quickly off the blocks reporting the first fish of the day and tournament, just 17 minutes into fishing. They followed up with a second fish later in the day to put them on two tags.

But it was the fishing to the north that once again came into it’s own in the middle of the day with Amokura, Saltaire, Zulu and Hellraiser finding a few among them up there.

Amokura ended the day in the front with 4 tags from Rimisla with three (unconfirmed as MIA on skeds) and a few other boats on two tags including C Girl, Saltaire and Askari.

In total, I recorded 24 tags for the 48 boat fleet.
