Exmouth GFC hosted the second Australian Junior Billfish Tournament last weekend with young anglers from Queensland and Victoria as well as Western Australia. Simon Woolcott and his daughters Savannah and Ella (their boat is Savella) traveled all the way out from Cairns – and Simon sent me this report thank you!
With bad weather cancelling the Sunday it was turned into a 1 day shootout. The reduced fleet of 9 with 18 juniors from age 7 through to 16 managed to tag 10 fish although many more fish were raised and one of the boats managed 1 from 6. The Woolcott girls were fortunate on Salt Shaker, skippered by Kurt Decker and crewed by his lovely wife Jo, and managed to convert 2 of the 3 they raised and allowed Savannah and Ella to take out the Mixed Division!!
The division prize winners are as follows with a photo above of all those that took part in the titles. Many of the fish were around the 25kg mark with a couple reported as plus 40kg.
