Report from Capt. Tim Dean whose Calypso has been steady steady on the fish off Port Stephens for the last few months, and having another great day yesterday recording 4 from 5 blacks yesterday for father son team Charles Thompson and son. Tim says fishing has been quite consistent with black marlin caught everyday inshore and is hoping they will see the stripes show out wide when the current finally slows and the bait can form up.
And also adding in from yesterday’s Sunshine Coast report, MGFC’s Kellie Jensen (Monster) sent a pic (top) of her nephews Denver (12) and Rhonan (10) Jensen with their first marlins. They tagged 4 blacks on Friday and then backed up with another 3 blacks and a sail on Saturday.
Kellie also gave us an update of other MGFC boats missed in yesterday’s report including Cam on Giddy Up who tagged 2 blacks Saturday and another 2 on Sunday, Tim on Big Wave Dave who tagged 3 blacks on Saturday and Fish Whisperer with 2, Big Unit 1, Luna 1 and Ryan McKinnon’s Ryan with 2 on Sunday.
Kellie also tells me that the surprising thing was that many of the fish caught were in the SUB 5kg range which supports the theory of another spawning area. Just as small as they are getting them up in the north!
