The fishing is hotting up in the leadup to the start of the Broome Billfish Tournament at the end of this week. Jeff tells me that in the last few days several boats having been getting amongst a pretty hot bite including Makaira who went  29-15-9 on sailfish and 1-1-1 on marlin late last week.

There was also a weather window for Cairns based boats to get out this past week – seemingly a bit of a rare occurrence with forecast looking particularly ordinary again this week. Capt. Ashley Wallis’ Kalira amongst the boats finding billies with a baby black marlin for members of the British Lions who were visiting the Great Barrier Reef.
